MAKE MY DAY

Helloo, I hope a few people enjoyed the interview with the girls from the Fabulous Stains. I’ve felt very rushed recently, so I haven’t been too inspired outfit wise, which is a shame, seeing as I enjoy getting dressed so much. I am taking photos and styling this Friday though, so hopefully that will re-ignite my lost spark. Seeing as the last post was so full of BAM, IN YO FACE, crazy graphics, I decided to give my brain a break and keep things simple for this post. Presenting an outfit from two weeks ago that was, until now, lost in the world of my boyfriend’s memory card.

Yes, keeping it minimal to the maximum (if such a thing is possible?) and only posting two images today. This is like, my way of PRINT CLASHING you guuuuuyssssss. Haha, no, actually I wasn’t trying to print clash on purpose, it was just a coincidence. I actually don’t own that many clothes with prints on them. Mostly because, I don’t think very many printed items under the price of $1000 (aka designer clothing) look that appealing.

Like I mentioned in the post prior, I’ve been working quite a bit lately and after I come home from work, I basically just sit on my laptop aimlessly clicking link after random link, finding myself in new corners of cyber space, not yet seen by my eyes. I found myself at this link and it reminded me of how many people had belly button piercings in the early 2000s! I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers this. Did you ever have one? I remember I used to be stunned at how confident some girls were, confident enough to expose their belly button and draw attention to it with some bling. I don’t think I could ever do that, I don’t like my body enough to showcase it to the public in such a way, power to the girls who can though. I think my dad would have killed me if I ever got a piercing anyway. My sister has wanted a lip piercing for a while, but my dad would disown her if she ever got one. Do any of you have any body/facial piercings? how did your parents react?

Before I end this post, I should probably announce the winner of my giveaway…. SAMANTHA TEDESCO. Congratulations :) I’ll be e-mailing you to let you know. Thanks to all nine people who entered the give away haha.

NEVER, EVER MET A GUY LIKE YOU

Woke up at 7.45 this morning without an alarm, what is this madness?! I’m going to be in a zombie like state tonight when I finish work at 10pm. I was so tired last night, I couldn’t even stay awake until midnight. How pathetic haha. I usually force myself to stay awake until at least midnight so then I don’t feel so lame. I mean, I’m 21, I should be stay up and party all night till like 7AM, right? I guess I should have seen the early morning coming. I’ve been listening to songs from everybody’s current favourite decade, the 90s. Not the cool grungy songs though, the cheesy dance music that I enjoyed as a five to eight year old. More on that later.

Ordered the leopard print hellbounds on Solestruck last week, they got to me in the same week. Ultra fast shipping, which was nice. These are some badass boots people. When I wear them, I feel like a monster cartoon character who decided to dress like a punk and go to a 70s disco. Yes, to me those are all good things. If you have any doubts, these pretty little things have been featured in Vogue Italia. What other confirmation can one need about their style? The hellbounds are also unbelievably comfortable for their height, they are so much more comfortable than the Litas in my opinion. I couldn’t walk in my Lita Spikes for more than five minutes without experiencing severe foot pain. I strolled around in the hellbounds for the entire night, and I was fine. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t feel like sneakers but they are more than bearable.

The only downer about yesterday’s outfit, was the crinkly looking skirt on this dress. Yes, I did iron the dress, which didn’t seem to make much difference. Note to self: dry clean only for these dresses next time.

You still have time to enter my giveaway, which can be found two posts down!

AINT NOTHING GONNA BREAK MY STRIDE, NOBODY GONNA SLOW ME DOWN, OH NO!, I GOT TO KEEP ON MOOOOVIN’

Empowering stuff! Am I the only one who isn’t afraid to admit that they liked this type of music?

JOURNEY

I set out on a quest to replace my lost belt today. Of course I couldn’t find anything quite as good in a reasonable price bracket, so I purchased two belts. The first belt I liked was patent, so I bought a matte leather belt too. I don’t think a shiny belt would work with every single outfit. I also looked for a new bag today. Currently, I only have one, my black backpack. As much as I love it, having no other option (especially when I don’t need to take much with me) is annoying. I’m fussy as hell with bags too, maybe even fussier than I am with belts, so I didn’t find anything. If anyone has any tips of good places to find nice bags, online, or in Melbourne, please let me know.

Wearing my new creepers. I’ve wanted creepers since I was 17 but never bought any because the platform never seemed big enough for me. Like I’ve mentioned a million times, I’m short, so I like my shoes to have a decent amount of height. To my delight, the flatform trend has persuaded Underground to create triple sole creepers. As soon as I saw these, I knew they would be mine eventually. They’re so comfortable, but they’re a little big for me, I’ll have to place some insoles inside these. If you’re thinking about buying them, I would consider going down a size.

Didn’t get any close up shots of the shoes :( but I will, soon.

Have you ever felt desperately attached to something that you knew you had to let go of?

VERSATILE

Jackie decided to award me the Versatile Blogger Award. How nice of her, thanks Jackie :) It’s not really an award though. I’ve learnt it’s like a blogging chain, I guess. I’m supposed to share seven things about myself and nominate fifteen other bloggers to continue the ‘award’ once I’m done.

1. I went to dance class for seven years and I used to be in a hiphop crew. Most people are shocked when I tell them this, you can see one of the performances here. Hahaha.

2. Greek was the first language I learnt.

3. I attended singing lessons when I was younger, I idolised Britney Spears and I wanted to be a pop star. It was my dream.

4.  I lived in Cyprus for six months when I was five years old.

5. When I was thirteen, I taught myself HTML.

6.  I have thirty two first cousins.

7. My first kiss was at the age of eighteen.

I will nominate…

Now on to something else. I’ve never wanted this blog to strictly display my style on good outfit days. DV is more an online diary than a fashion or style blog, so I’m going to share what I usually wear on days that are reserved for small tasks around the suburbs I reside in.

This is basically it. If I’m feeling too dull, I add my trusty massive flatforms. Aside from being dangerous on bumpy ground, they are insanely comfortable.

When I was thirteen, I decided that when I got to the age of eighteen , I would dye all my hair pink. What I didn’t realise at the time, was that doing so, wouldn’t be the best idea. I don’t have a shit load of hair and it’s quite thin, it’s not extremely strong or thick or anything. Bleaching it all doesn’t seem like a good plan, especially since I want super long hair. However, I have a tumblr, so I see an endless number of awesome hair on my dashboard every single day. The temptation to do something to my hair grew a little each day, until it reached breaking point on Saturday, when I spontaneously booked an appointment for the next day. I took a page of hair inspiration so the hairdressers could help me decide what to do.

I look like the epitome of happiness, right? I have three mouth ulcers right now and two of them are fucking huge, so it hurt to smile. Only those of us who regularly suffer from these mofos truly know how annoying they are. My first outbreak occurred when I was eight. My entire mouth was full of them, my tongue, cheeks, gums. I was on a diet of milkshakes for a week. In the unfortunate case that anyone else reading this regularly deals with mouth ulcers, my advice? Kenalog. It’s a gel that speeds up the healing. It’s seriously the only thing I’ve discovered that actually seems to make a difference. Without Kenalog, my ulcers can take up to two weeks to heal, with Kenalog, even huge ulcers might vanish in five days.

Anyway, back to the hair. It isn’t as dramatic or vibrant as I was hoping, but you have to start somewhere.

A REVIEW

To anyone who saw my melodramatic post. Sorry about that. People do stupid things when they’re having a panic attack, and are completely consumed by irrational fear. Before I move on, I’d like to address something. If you, for whatever reason don’t like my blog, don’t like me, or anything I type on this piece of internet space that I paid for. By all means, feel free to move on to something that you do like.

Today I’m going to review a few things I recently purchased, for anyone who might possibly be interested. I’m sure by now, a lot of you have heard of Chicwish. It’s an online store based in Hong Kong. They sell up to date, rather trendy clothing at pretty affordable prices. I’d seen Chicwish advertised on a lot of blogs I follow and Lookbook. I have thought for some time, that a few of their pieces are cute, but I was always very skeptical about ordering anything. A lot of their items are only available in one size and most of the people modelling their clothes seemed a lot thinner than me. I decided to take my chances and ordered a few tops and skirts from the store about two weeks ago. You never know unless you try, right?

This is what I ordered. Everything I received, looked how it was pictured on the site, well apart from one thing with the skirts, I’ll get to that in a moment. Even the colours were accurate. For the prices, the quality was decent enough too, definitely wearable. It didn’t feel like anything was about to fall apart. I’d say that the quality is definitely better than the clothing from Forever 21 and perhaps even Urban Outfitters. Most of the items I’ve ever purchased from UO seem like they’re about to fall apart after a few wears.

Another plus was that the shipping was free. I was a little nervous about the items not fitting me. All the shirts looked okay. They did feel a bit tight around the chest area when I was putting them on, but once they were on, they felt fine. Nothing amazing, but good enough to keep and wear. Both the skirts were a different story. They were so much shorter than I thought they would be, and I’m short. I think I’m only just over 5’0. I like wearing skirts on my waist and I couldn’t do that with these, they didn’t cover anything worn that high. It seemed like the only way I could get away with wearing them, was by keeping them at my hips, which I wasn’t prepared to do. I’m going to send both of those back. Another problem with both the skirts is that their waist bands didn’t stretch very far. I don’t think anyone much bigger than me could wear them. According to my doctor, for my height, my BMI is ‘perfect’. So someone like my sister who is a few inches taller than me, couldn’t wear anything from Chicwish. It’s a shame that they don’t have a wider variety with sizes, because my sister would definitely like their style.

The skirts also didn’t puff out as much as I thought they would. I have two of the reversible petticoats from AA, they’re amazing. So I guess my standards for tutu style skirts are pretty damn high now. The customer service at Chicwish is good, they’re very polite and fast to answer, so no issues on that side. Would I order from them again? Probably not. I’m not a huge fan of the general selection of the products they sell, plus I don’t feel like I’d have luck with the sizing very often. On the other hand, If you’re a petite girl and like cute style, I’d definitely recommend Chicwish.
